Speed Up the Die Casting with the Right Tools

Speed Up the Die Casting with the Right Tools. What exactly is zinc die casting tooling? It has been called many names, such as insert dies, die casting molds, or die casting dies. These tools can come in many shapes, styles, and sizes. Die casting tooling helps in making your die casting process easier and more flexible to your needs.

  • An inexpensive kind of die cast tooling is die cast tooling inserts, since they have just enough strength to keep the molten metal in the die to produce a good metal part under the required pressure. Because it is a cheap alternative, the tool has to be treated with heat to extend the tool’s lifespan. If a die casting toolmaker is in experienced with using inserts, it could reduce the lifespan of the tool.
  • Other zinc die casting tooling available is the trim dies, used to cut off excess zinc when required, and mold tooling, which saves you the trouble of having a separate mold base.
  • Some zinc die casting tooling can cost some hundred dollars, while a complete die cast package, which includes die cast molds, trims, and inserts can cost a few thousand dollars. It’s all a matter of choosing which tooling you need to produce your desired metal parts.
